Knot¶
A knot is the spherical attachment point that lets one support connect to another support's shaft.
What it is¶
- A support-to-support anchor.
- Similar in shape to a joint, but different in behavior.
- Commonly used at the base of branches and leaves, and at the end of kickstands and braces.
Geometry¶
- The knot body is spherical.
- Its size follows the host shaft diameter with a small clearance offset.
Behavior¶
- A knot slides only along the axis of the host shaft.
- It does not move freely in 3D space.
- It is pickable for editing and selection.
Constraints¶
- A knot must remain on a valid host shaft.
- It never connects directly to the build plate or model.
