Knot

A knot is the spherical attachment point that lets one support connect to another support's shaft.

What it is

  • A support-to-support anchor.
  • Similar in shape to a joint, but different in behavior.
  • Commonly used at the base of branches and leaves, and at the end of kickstands and braces.

Geometry

  • The knot body is spherical.
  • Its size follows the host shaft diameter with a small clearance offset.

Behavior

  • A knot slides only along the axis of the host shaft.
  • It does not move freely in 3D space.
  • It is pickable for editing and selection.

Constraints

  • A knot must remain on a valid host shaft.
  • It never connects directly to the build plate or model.
