Joint

A joint is the spherical break that lets adjacent shaft segments change angle without moving the endpoints.

What it is

  • A sphere inserted into a support chain.
  • Used when a support needs an angle change or an editable break point.

Geometry

  • The joint body is always spherical.
  • Its diameter is slightly larger than the connected shaft diameter.

Behavior

  • Moving a joint changes the angle of the shaft segments above and below it.
  • The endpoints of the support stay anchored in place.
  • Joints are pickable for editing.

Constraints

  • Shaft diameter must remain matched on both sides of the joint.
  • Joints are ordered bottom to top along the support.
